IT Support & Data Science
Two employment-first tracks under one roof: the technician who keeps the office running and secure, and the analyst who turns its data into decisions.
What you will be able to do
- Diagnose and repair everyday hardware, operating system and network faults
- Run a helpdesk queue with tickets, escalation and clear written updates
- Apply everyday security: accounts, backups, patching and phishing response
- Clean, analyse and visualise a real dataset, and train a first predictive model
Syllabus
- A1 — Hardware and operating systems (30h): Components, assembly, Windows and Linux install, drivers, and structured fault-finding.
- A2 — Networking essentials (28h): IP addressing, switching, routing, Wi-Fi, cabling and the commands that prove where a fault is.
- A3 — Security and user support (24h): Accounts and permissions, backups, patching, phishing, and writing a ticket a manager understands.
- D1 — Data foundations and spreadsheets (30h): Data types, cleaning, pivot tables, lookup formulas and honest charts.
- D2 — SQL and Python for analysis (35h): Queries and joins, pandas, grouping, plotting and reproducible notebooks.
- D3 — First machine-learning model (30h): Train/test split, regression and classification, evaluation, and knowing when not to model.
Capstone project
Office turnaround or decision report — IT track: take on a real small office, document its faults, fix and secure it, and hand over a support log. Data track: take a real dataset and deliver an analysis that recommends one decision.
- The starting situation is documented with evidence
- Each action is justified and its result measured
- The handover can be followed by the client without you
- One clear recommendation is made and defended
Your certificate
LES Institute Certificate — IT Support or Data Science
- Every checkpoint passed at 100% (unlimited retries, three attempts per sitting)
- Capstone approved by a mentor and, for the IT track, a bench assessment at a centre
