AI foundations — what it is, what it is not

Anyone starting with AI: student, employee, owner, teacher — I understand what the machine is doing when it answers me.

You have heard about AI, maybe tried it once, and you cannot tell what it is reliable for. You want the honest version before you use it on real work.

What you'll be able to do

• Explain in plain words how a model learns from examples and why it invents facts
• Tell the difference between a task AI does well and one it must not be trusted with
• Write a prompt with role, context, constraints and an example
• Check an AI answer for invented facts, wrong numbers and bias
• Use AI without sending confidential customer or patient information to it

• M1 — What artificial intelligence actually is — Patterns, examples and probabilities — no magic, no consciousness.
• M2 — Your first working prompts — Role, context, constraints, example — and iteration.
• M3 — Checking the output — Facts, numbers, sources and tone before anything leaves your desk.
• M4 — Safe and honest use — Confidentiality, disclosure, and what you must never paste into a chatbot.

Capstone project

Ten tasks, one prompt library — Pick ten tasks you actually do in a week. Build a tested prompt for each, run it on real input, record what you corrected, and write the safe-use rules for your workplace.
